Types of High Schools in the USA

There are different types of high schools in the United States. In this article we will discuss in depth the private, public, charter and magnet schools.

Public High School

A public high school is a government-funded educational institution. These schools offer education to students between the ages of 14 and 18. Education is available to all students, regardless of their socioeconomic status.

These schools have limited admission requirements and most students are admitted without paying tuition.

Private High School (Private High School)

On the other hand, a private high school is a secondary school funded entirely by donors, foundations, organizations, businesses or individuals. These schools generally offer a more specialized education, are run by a private or religious organization. These schools have stricter admissions requirements and students must pay tuition per year, and have a cost of attendance that averages $15,401 per year nationally.

Charter High School (High School with Authorization)

A charter school is a public high school that operates under a charter contract with the government to provide an education to students. These schools are autonomous and are not strictly regulated by the government, but are responsible for meeting the quality requirements and achievement targets set by the government.
