Disastrous Debates, Admission Scandals, and Fake COVID Tests | The State of the U #06
Hello and welcome one and all!
Last week was an absolute rollercoaster for the American people.
On Tuesday , I genuinely thought I was watching the presidential debate but it looked more like a Cracker Barrel lobby to me.
I mean, I know I am from Florida, but not even I am used to this many old men screaming.
And then if Tuesday wasn’t enough, I was awakened in the middle of the night on Thursday to the breaking news that President Trump and First Lady Melanie have tested positive for Coronavirus.
The University of California school system which comprises UC Berkeley, UCLA, UC San Diego, and seven others is currently under fire for an admission scandal revolving around admitting 64 noncompetitive applicants under questionable pretenses.
@NACACWonk speaks on UC audit via @insidehighered: “Students with wealth, privilege, or connections to influential voices in the university governance system should not be given a ‘leg up’ in gaining access to college." https://t.co/RXLx2AVQgV #AdmissionsInsider #NACAC— NACAC (@NACAC) September 28, 2020
A college party with more than 1,000 People near Florida State University had to be broken up by a police helicopter last weekend.
Apparently the Tallahassee police department received more than a dozen calls of large crowds gatherings and more than 7,00 vehicles at an apartment complex near the university campus.
With over 1,400 students having already tested positive for COVID-19, this seems to be the one of the most irresponsible displays we have seen this school year.
The University of Illinois has been using a saliva-based COVID-19 test, however, as it turns out, this test never received approval from the FDA.
So between a disastrous presidential debate, news of President Trump and First Lady Melania Trump testing positive for COVID-19, college admissions scandals and large parties continuing to happen across the country, it might be fair to say that the only winners this week were the lakers and fans who voted for Justine and Caleb to win Love Island.
I truly wish a speedy recovery for the President, the first Lady and anyone else who has been infected by the virus.
I hope this unites us into taking all of the necessary precautions and becoming better versions of ourselves.
This has been, The State of the U.
