Difference between a Private and a Public Institution 🎓🏛
When you look at schools, you might see that some have out-of-state and in-state costs. The major difference between public and private college/university lies in how they are funded.
1) Out-of-state & In-state Costs
2) Why is this Important?
Well, if you are from Texas and want to go to UNC Chapel Hill, which is a public school, you would have to pay out-of-state tuition.
I am not telling you this to discourage you, on the contrary. Some out-of-staters can receive very generous financial aid packages, for example UNC’s financial aid package is of around $18,000 and they can meet 100% of their student’s financial need.
If you were a North Carolina resident and had the option to go to one of the best National Universities in the nation for around $9,000 a year, you would only have to find that much aid to go to school for free!
That is, if you live at home. If you look closely, living on-campus housing plus meals will approximately cost an additional $11,463.
This is not an exact number as students always could have the choice of opting-out of a meal plan or live in a less expensive dorm.
